Be Gentler! A Compass to Caring for Black Student Wellness
Be Gentler will facilitate a therapeutic space for Black students to explore and support their mental health and well-being. Attendees will engage in interactive and psychoeducational exercises that assist in managing anxiety, stress, and diverse challenges to Black student mental health. Through an anti-Black racism lens, the session will also work to critically dismantle the manifestations and thoughts of imposter syndrome within Black youth.
Be Gentler aligns with the Be You, Be Well theme through its ability to provide a therapeutic space for Black youth to process the nuanced mental health challenges endured as a result of anti-Black racism, and other systems of oppression.
As a result of their attendance, participants will gain practical tools to respond to anxiety, nurture their Black identity, compassionate self-talk and tools that support their overall wellness.
