Being True to Oneself; Taking Advantage of Mental Health to Create Wellness in the Community
The RCHC will host a 2-hour Black Mental Health Week Virtual Event in collaboration with Beyond The Veil Mission, CARY Toronto, Umurage Association, and Ghanaian Canadian Association of Ontario to examine intergenerational trauma among continental African Canadians.
The 2023 Black Mental Health Week event - “Being True to Oneself; Taking Advantage of Mental Health to Create Wellness in the Community,” will examine intergenerational differences among Rwandans living in Canada as well as other African descents communities while exploring ways to build bridges between generations and to allow space for Healing & Growth for members of the continental African descent population living in Canada.
This event will feature various leaders from the Rwandan-Canadian, and other African-Canadian communities, mental health experts, advocates, and community members with lived experience.
The Black Mental Health Week event is part of the City of Toronto’s Mental Health Initiatives, led by the TAIBU Community Health Centre.
